SURPRISE!!!!

So, this one time my husband was about to turn 30. This made him extremely upset and depressed. So, I thought, "What can I do to make this transition into old-hood a little better?" Why, a surprise party of course! (Tommy forgive me for calling you old numerous times in this post :) Its all in good fun!) Tommy has been such a trooper the last few months making sure things have been taken care of while we move and did most of the work and he just blew me away at how hard he has been working lately. He deserved a good time! So, over the last few months I have been thinking about this surprise party. I didn't do anything about it for a long time but finally last week I decided I better get my butt in gear! I had so many friends come and help pick out all the decorations and help set up and with the food. I am sooo grateful for those friends! I couldn't have pulled this party together without them! So, anyway, I kept my mouth shut and played it cool. His birthday wasn't for a couple of days so I was hopeful that I could pull it off and...I did! Tommy REALLY was SURPRISED! Anyway, here is a play by play..

Here is most of the crew.. There were a few more people that came late..

Tommy's face when he walked in and realized what was going on. He was pretty confused..

The outfit we got for him.

Ready, Set, GET HIM!!

Poor Tommy being hammered with water balloons. He loved it though.
So, after a while we sang happy birthday to Tommy. I told one of his friends that he should smash Tommy's face in the cake (Gee, I am really sounding like a mean wife this post!) but Tommy had a better idea...
Tommy smashed Maddox's face. And after that, he was hooked. Maddox went at it for a good 10 minutes. Needless to say, we only were able to eat half of the cake and Maddox was a very happy little boy!
Mmmm!

So, you get the jist of it. We had a great time celebrating Tommy's old age. We enjoyed having our closest friends over, eating lots and lots of food, but most of all the priceless look on Tommy's face!

Thanks to all who came to make it special for Tommy!

Maddox hearts CEC

I cannot believe that I take my child to Chuck E Cheese. I suppose its payback for all the times I begged my parents to take me.... and they did. And I did love it......... back then. I guess what is important now is that Maddox loves the over-priced pizza and germ infested games :) Just kidding.. kind of. We all know its true but the kid loves it and we love the kid so... what are we going to do!

The boys racing!

Maddox and his new friend Connor.

This is how Maddox plays ski-ball!

There is that "CHEESE" face I love so much! :) He loved riding high in the helicopter.
My CRAZY man and I!

We are still Alive!!!

I cannot believe that it has been almost 2 months since my last post. I am terrible! Not too much has been going on here. Well, I guess we did move. We moved from Glendale to Gilbert and we are loving it so far (well, as much as we could love 110 degree weather in AZ)! We have only been here for about 2 weeks but we are so excited to be here! For the move we had Tommy's mother and father come out to help. I have to say, this move would not have gotten done without all the help from our friends and family! Seriously, I could not have done it on my own. We have some wonderful people in our lives to help us so much!

I am trying to think of what all has happened to us over the last 2 months..

-Tommy surprised me on Mother's Day with a kitchen aid!
-We have been spending a lot of time in the pool lately..
-I hate packing
-Tommy has found a new place to fish that is close to our new house. He has been going at 4:45 in the morning a few days a week to fish. (Did I mention he is crazy!?)
-My little sister had her baby
-Maddox moved to a big boy bed (not because he was getting out of his crib but because I wasn't about to set the crib up again when he is almost 2 1/2 years old. Ridiculous.) He has done really well. He still doesn't even get out of bed in the mornings. He still calls for us to come get him even though I tell him he can do other wise. I can't decide if its cute or annoying that we still have to come get him EARLY in the mornings.
-My friend Ashley and her husband came into town. Ashley and I were roommates at BYUI and I love her. We didn't get to spend as much time together as I would have liked but it was good to catch up!
-Yesterday Tommy and I celebrated our FOUR year anniversary! We went to dinner at this delicious Italian restaurant and then walked around a few stores. Our new neighbor was sweet enough to watch Maddox for us! It was so great to have a few hours to ourselves. I can't tell you how much I love him.. He is amazing!

What I am looking forward to this summer:
-Lots of swimming
-Our annual trip up to Island Park so that Tommy can do MORE FISHING.
-Hopefully being able to visit family in Texas, Colorado, Vegas, and California!
-Eating lots of strawberries.

So I know this is a pretty boring post so I will add a few pictures to make it more interesting :)

Maddox playing in the fountains. Seriously his FAVORITE thing to do.

One night we went to check on Maddox and this is how we found him. This is probably the closest he has come to falling out.

Cheese!

Well, thats all I've got. I will post pictures of the new house when I get some things on the walls. I promise to make the next post more exciting!
