Our Little Trooper

So, Maddox has been pretty sick for the past month, just with a cold that turned into an ear/sinus infection. Well, after giving him his antibiotics for almost a week and no progress had been made I took him back into the doctors. Fortunately, progress had been made and the infections had cleared up. However, what was going on with this horrible cough he has had for so long!?! The nurse did an albuterol treatment and then sent us down for a chest xray (which was like the hardest thing for me to watch. He had to sit in this tight little plastic tube while I held his arms above his head... so sad!) The treatment helped a lot. Turns out he has some sort of bronchial infection. So, we got a nebulizer (sounds like something fake from a sci-fi movie) and are doing the albuterol treatments as he needs it every day. The first time we did it he cried through the whole thing but he has gotten so much better! We are so proud of our little guy and so happy he is feeling better!

Tommy always wants to be the one to hold and comfort him :) He loves his little boy!

So. Many. Fun. Things.

We have been a busy bunch these last few weeks!

A few weeks ago we got together with some friends of ours and went to a cubs vs white sox spring training game. It was SO hott but we had a blast and the company was great! And the cubs won...

So one day Maddox and I were able to go to the Phoenix Zoo with a "baby signs" class. We learned signs for a few of the animals and then went and enjoyed the park. Maddox loved watching all the silly animals.

The giraffs were probably one of my favorites.

There was a Little People's Farm play area and Maddox had a thing for the lamb. It was the only thing he wanted to play with!

At the end we went on the carousel ride. Maddox was a little freaked out but LOVED it. We also went to "pet" the sting rays. I think Maddox wanted to jump in and play with them more than anything.

Alright, onto our next "fun thing". We went to San Diego to visit Tommy's sister, Stacey, one last time before she headed back up to BYUI. Our biggest adventure was the beach!

This is how he rolls.

Such a BIG boy standing all by himself! (We are still working on the whole walking thing..)

Just doing a little sun bathing.... Don't mind me.

Stace face and the big guy!

The happy family.

So, who knew you could get such cute pictures with an old broken pair of glasses?

HA! It doesn't get much cuter than this!!

So, last but not least, what would spring training be without going to a Padres game!?

Daddy and future Padres fan. (Notice Maddox is wrapped in a blanket on the bottom half? Thats only because he had like the BIGGEST blowout of his life. Of course we had to be at a baseball game with out any change of clothes!)

Well, there you have it! Compared to the last few weeks, our calendar is looking pretty empty! We have had so much fun enjoying the nice weather in Arizona. It won't be nice for much longer................ Ugh. :)

Sleepy Head

Here is my little boy snuggled up on (one) of his Teddy's! So sweet...
So we went to the doc for his one year appointment earlier this week. Here were the results:
-29 inches long (50%)
-19lbs. 10 oz. (10%)
-Forgot what his head was but it was like 30%.
Because he is on the lower end of weight the doctor is making me give him "boost" for kids cause Maddox isn't big on drinking milk or formula or any of that. I don't think he is too excited about this boost stuff either but we will see. He is just a little shrimp thats all :)

Birthday Party!!

Well, we felt like we should go all out for our sweet little boy. We had the party at our friends, Mike and Cassandra's house (thanks guys!) And we had most of our family and good friends there to celebrate with us! We had a jungle themed party so I thought I would make Maddox a lion cake. Yes, I did this by myself with some "guidance" from my mother. She made sure that I made his first cake all by myself! We had all the food catered by a company that Tommy uses on a weekly basis for his lunches. It consisted of HUGE burgers, pulled BBQ chicken, Mac-n-cheese, a salad, twice baked potatoes, and a fruit and veggie platter. Seriously, SO good! We had so much food left over it wasn't even funny. My freezer is full and we will not starve for the next few months! Anyway, lets get to the festivities.

I know, I am SO mean for making him wear his party hat.

First taste!

I LOVE CAKE

Time to get cleaned up!! What a mess!!

I think the balloons were the babies favorite part of the whole night.

Baby in a bag.

Thats right, BYU
Just chattin' it up on his new phone...

We walked away with lost of toys, lots of books, and TONS of clothes. Thanks to everyone who was able to be there to help us celebrate the big ONE.

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Our sweet little Maddox is one year old today. Wow! I can't believe how quickly the time flies! One year ago at 1:06pm we welcomed our little boy to this world. He has been such a blessing in our lives. He has grown into such a sweet little boy that loves to learn and loves to love! (I have quite the cuddler on my hands) Here are a few Maddox facts:

  • He has 7 teeth.
  • He cannot walk yet but is starting to stand alone.
  • He has visited San Diego, Las Vegas, San Fransisco, Utah, Island Park/Rexburg, ID, Denver, and Fort Worth. (A few of those places he has been more than twice. Not too bad for a year!)
  • His favorite things are balls and anything with buttons.
  • If he is in the right mood, he will give you a cheesy smile when the camera comes out.
  • He loves to go on walks and be outside.
  • I don't believe there has been a day we have gone out that we haven't been stopped with a cuteness comment.
  • He loves to climb the stairs and is getting pretty fast. (We are working on getting him down!)
  • He understands "no" and usually obeys it.
  • He plays catch with us.
  • He is a pretty picky eater so far. :/

Well, tonight he is having his party where lots of family members and friends will be attending. Maddox, you are SO loved!

Texas

So, we have been gone for like, forever! ...or two weeks! For about 10 days Maddox and I went to Texas to spend time with Grandma Winfree and see my little sister get married! We are so happy for her... and of course we had a ton of fun seeing all of my family. It was great!

Maddox and Daddy at the Temple

Maddox loves his binky's!

Ok, so after we were in Texas for 10 days, we went to San Diego for the rest of the weekend to celebrate Tommy's father's birthday and to attend a wedding for one of Tommy's best friends from school. We had SO MUCH FUN. We miss it there soo much! Maddox always has fun with his Aunt Stacey and Grandma and Grandpa Hainline...

One day we went to the park to feed the ducks/geese...

face to face

Then we went and played on the playground.....

He wasn't so sure about the swings at first.

Here he is just chillin on one of the toys. He had so much fun playing on the slide and all the different toys they had there.

So, we also went down to La Jolla and went out to eat at "Alfonso's". Delicious Mexican food. Later we walked down by the beach and stopped at the place that Tommy proposed more than three years ago..

Well, there it is, our travels for the month of February. You would think we would stop and take a break right? WRONG. We don't rest!! Stay tuned for more of our adventures........

Cake Contest

So, I know this is WAY late but for Valentines Day we had a little contest at church and this is what I made for it...
